HCLG Share Latest Updates at The Action on Site Health Event (North) 2025

On 16th April 2025, Alicia Parfitt (HCLG Communications Leader) and Colin Nottage (HCLG Respiratory Working Group Leader) travelled to Manchester to speak at 'Action on Site Health - North'.

After an initial introduction, Alicia gave updates from each of the working groups:

• MSD Working Group

• Respiratory Working Group

• Mental Health Working Group

• Drug and Alcohol Misuse Working Group

There were lots of other interesting speakers, Eg. Parmjit Gahir (BOHS), who shared a variety of best practice and bad practice examples of hazard control. He even shared a hard hitting story about a 21-year-old lad who died from chemical exposure on his second day of work.

Another notable speaker was Kester Ratcliff (Asthma +Lung UK), he spoke about the support that they offer to people (and their families) who are suffering from lung diseases. He was joined by 2 nurses who spoke about the types of things they have to see, and deal with, on a daily basis.
